Something of interest

In 2020 we were invited to join an international conference on Zoom hosted by the Russian Haskap Growers Association.
The conference, the first international online meeting to discuss the Global Haskap Market involved growers and users of Haskap produce from all over the world.
The main reason we were invited to participate was that there was interest in us, as we are regarded as being in the hottest part of the world for growing Haskap Berries.
One of the outcomes of the conference was that we received an email from the Kangshin Industrial Company, a supplier in the food and pharmaceutical industry in South Korea.
They were enquiring about obtaining 15,000kgs of produce – comprising concentrate juice and fruit.
Needless to say, we could not supply anything like that, and we directed them to people who we knew could help them in Canada. Nevertheless, it seems that Australia is held in high esteem in South Korea, and they have come back to us saying that when we are able to supply, they will be most interested.
Produce
In the meantime, these berries have proven to be superb in liqueurs and produce ranging from jams to sorbets, icecream, chocolates, marinade, liqueurs and being infused in gin so we believe a market for produce can be readily developed with the restaurant industry among others.
In Canada they’re also being extensively used in powders and freeze dried.
There may also be considerable potential in the health food industry (see nutritional info on this site).
As a matter of interest, a compote that we made ourselves won gold at the 2021 Royal Hobart Show.
